Giel is currently a PhD student doing research at the University of Tilburg at TICC. The title of his thesis is Quantifying Individual Player Differences. His promotors are Prof. dr. Jaap van den Herik and Prof. dr. Arnoud Arntz and his daily supervisor is Dr. Ir. Pieter Spronck.
